Ha, ha. The last laugh, however, was on him.
It happened the day Royal Racer got real bold. He picked up his trusty typewriter, which seemingly weighed 50 pounds, and marched down three hallways to the future-secretaries’ class. He set up just in time few a typing test.
Fingers lightly tapping home row, Racer was ready. “Go!”
Now is ^...Typewriters were dinging all over the room; the secretarial pool was already into their second line. Royal Racer never finished the first. He picked up his rusty Royal and left, dragging his tail behind.
Until today, with this IBM purring on my desk, I never really left a Royal behind. I used one while an editor in Cleveland, Ohio, Greenwich, Connecticut, and here at the Rappahannock News.
The red button on the typewriter that brightly proclaims “Royal” serves an editorial purpose: When the well runs dry and the writer wonders where to begin, he or she can push that button and pop the lid over aad over until inspiration comes. * ;
Some eAten* will tell you it takes an Underwood to make a great writer..(Those editors are old timers.
Some days I hate keeping with the times. To me, only a Royal is royalty.
