frequently worked for partial salary or no pay at all when things were tight. They aren’t in it for the money.

The center is non-profit. Its books and finances must be examined regularly in order to retain that status. Yes, child care is expensive. There and everywhere else. The days of the 50 center per hour babysitter, the 15 cent hamburger, the $30 per-month electric bill, 30 ceqts a gallon gasoline — and $2 per hour pay stubs — are gone.

I believe that Sursum Corda offers the kind of quality child care that is rarely found in the city and never — except in Rappahannock — in the coun'*ry.

Parents and, more importantly, children are lucky this service is available here. Its worth cannot be measured in dollars and cents. I hope the center prospers and grows. I hope its there if I need it.
