And there’s been a further ftilure to instill a belief in the need to continue education, the Hampton District supervisor said.
While nominating Bryant Lee, Mr. Miller said he wished he could place on the School Board all four of the people he’d considered for the vacancy. He noted that Mr. Lee is “interested in the community” 1*"^ that he and his wife are expecting a child. Mr. Lee has been a director of the Rappahannock County Farm Bureau for 2 1/2 years and has tried to establish a Rappahannock chapter of the JayCees, Mr. Miller said, describing both organizations as committed to education. “He has more experience than I had when I was appointed to the Board of Supervisors,” Mr. Miller added. “I didn’t even know what the supervisors did.”
At the public hearing two weeks ago, Paul Nichols was the sole nominee for the School Board seat from Wakefield District. Again, his was the only name mentioned at Monday’s meeting. Chairman Hubert Gilkey nominated the 26-year Veteran to another four year term as Wakefield’s representative. “He’s certainly done a good job,” said Nelson Lane, seconding the nomination before the unanimous confirmation from the rest of the supervisors.
