Reunion planned
The annual reunion of the family of the late Alfred and Catherine Gearing Jenkins will be held Sunday, August 9, at Rappahannock Park on Route 211, Washington. All friends and relatives are urged to attend. Lunch will be served at 12:30.
Post 1150 to meet
The Rappahannock County Post 1150 will meet Tuesday, July 14, at 7:30 p.m. at the VFW Hall in Sperryville.
Farm show planned
The Culpeper-Madison-Rappahannock Farm Show will be held July 23-27 at the Culpeper Agricultural Enterprise grounds. Saturday, July 25, is Rappahannock Day. For additional information call the Rappahannock Extension office at 675-3619.
Loan Closet covered dish supper
The Rappahannock Loan Closet will host a covered dish supper at the Recreation Center on Saturday, July 11, at 6:30 p.m. A donation of $2 per person is requested. The proceeds will be used to maintain and upgrade supplies and equipment of the closet. “Please give us your support and come have fun with us,” said a spokesperson for the organization. Winners of the Loan Closet’s fundraising drive will be announced.
‘Little Shop of Horrors’
The movie Little Shop of Horrors will be playing at the Gay Street Theatre on July 11 and 12 at 7:30 each evening. A killer cabbage from space makes slaw of a florist’s customers in this vege-magic musical based on the stage version and the cult movie classic from which it all began. Rick Moranis, the Ghostbusters key master, works a variation on the neighborly nebbish as a flower store nerd who unwittingly raises the cruciferous carnivore named Audrey II after his dream girl. Steve Martin plays Audrey’s sadistic boyfriend, with Bill Murray in la hilarious cameo. Muppet man Frank Oz directs this showstopping extravaganza. The movie is rated PG-13. Admission is $3 for adults and $2 for children. Please note the PG-13 rating. Some of the language and visual effects could be unsettling to small children.

4-H summer camps
4-H Junior Camp for ages 9-12 will be held August 10-14 at the 4-H Center near Front Royal. The cost for the week of overnight camp is $70.
4-H Junior High Camp for grades 7-9 will be held August 20-September 3 at the 4-H Center. Cost for camp is $70; registration deadline is July 15. Call the Extension Office at 675-3619 or come by to pick up a form for either camp.
