Mrs. J. Maurice O’Bannon
of Woodville has recently resigned her position as medical and surgical nursing supervisor and member of the nursing staff of Culpeper Memorial Hospital, a position she has held since the hospital opened in March 1960. She will be pre-clinical instructor of the Licensed Practical Nursing Course for Culpeper County.
The proposal for the establishment of a Wilderness Area in Shenandoah National Park was a primary topic at the Rappahannock County Board of Supervisors’ meeting held Friday at the courthouse. Some officials and residents have registered concern over future water supplies and the abandoning of fire trails if the Wilderness Area is established. Allison H. Stevenson and Graham T. Munkrittrick of the Soil Conservation Service were present with maps which indicated prospective dam sites on Broad Hollow Run, Hazel River, Thornton and Covington River tributaries for future water impoundment. The board requested four copies of the map with figures relative to water storage acres and amounts.
