rity that you’re supposed to bring,” said Rep. Dornan, 54, a former Air Force fighter pilot. “Do not let that affect your morale.”

He told the Marines their job “is not to get involved in the politics” of the heavily-publicized sex-for-secrets spy scandal at the U.S. embassy in Moscow. Instead, he said, the graduates should “stay there in uniform for as long as you and your family are willing to do that.”

Rep. Dornan also compared the principals in the spy case to Jesus Christ and the 12 desciples.

“Jesus Christ, who many of us in this room believe was the son of God, chose 12 loyal followers that, he expected to be trustworthy, faithful, and brave and reverent,” he said. “One of them betrayed him with a kiss, no less. There has never been a group, an organization, in history that has not had an informer, a traitor, a coward or a betrayer.”

Rep. Dornan said Marine guards are “the most thinly spread” of all American combat people in uniform The guards are the most visible, and some of the most vulnerable, American forces in the world, he said.
