youth minister to move here, Kim said she plans to spend the summei getting settled and helping Larry at the church. She added that she’d like to teach, perhaps as a substitute in the local schools.
“We’re excited,’’ they both said of the move here. “We were both raised in cities, so this is a new experience. We’ve already felt the sense of community here — the more time we are here the more we feel this is where God led us.”
“We’re looking forward to becoming a part of that community,” Larry added, “to make this our first home together. We’re going to spend the first few months getting to know people.”
Asked for his perception of his role as the church’s pastor, Rev. Hovis replied, “I am the one who helps the church discover God’s vision and then we, as a group, act upon it as best we can. I don’t possess the vision,” he added. “That is something we discover together as a community. I try to help see what can be done — to help the deacons and the membership act on the vision.”
