Santa to appear in Castleton
Santa Claus will be making an appearance at the Castleton Firehouse, 2 p.m.-4 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 10. “Come out and have cookies and punch with Santa, and most of all don’t forget your wish list,” said an organizer.

Band to be in parade
The Rappahannock County High School marching band will be participating in the annual Christmas parade in Front Royal, beginning at 11 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 2. Line-up will be at the K-rnart Store in the Royal Plaza Shopping Center, and the parade will end on Chester St.
Spaghetti dinner Dec. 14
The Rappahannock County Elementarv School will hold its annual spaghetti dinner, 5 p.m.-7:30 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 14. Cost is $6 adults, all you can eat; $5 adults, single serving; $3 children under 10. Following the dinner will be the RCES winter music program, which begins at 7:30 p.m. in the auditorium. Art for gift show
Friday, Nov. 24, began the Art for Gifts show at the Middle Street Gallery in Washington, Va. Original art gifts for children and ' adults are available to choose from. The show will remain through Sunday, Dec. 31. Gallery hours are 11 a.m.-6 p.m., Friday-Sunday, and 9 a.m.-noon, Mondays and Wednesdays, and any other time by appointment, 703-675-3440.
Lectures at Gay St. Theater
At 7:30 p.m., Friday, Dec. 1, at the Gay Street Theater, William Dietel will speak on “Poland - Prospects and Problems.” Mr. Dietel visited Poland in March and October to investigate and advise on the agricultural situation there. At 7:30 p.m., Friday, Dec. 8, at the Gay St. Theater, John W. Kiser III, author of the recently published “Communist Entrepreneurs” and a frequent traveler on business in Eastern Europe and the USSR, will speak on “The Opening of the Eastern Block - Socialism in Disintegration or Renewal?" These lectures and discussions following are free and open to the public, sponsored by RAAC and The Rappahannock County Public Library.
