Still, wealthy taxpayers aren't the only 6nes who will be paying more to Uncle Sam. Consumers will feel the pinch, too. We'll all be paying more at the gas pump. And those of us who purchase cigarettes, alcohol, airline tickets, and luxury items, such as planes, boats, luxury autos, furs and jewelry, will also have higher bills at the cash register.
Despite these attacks on the nation's pocketbooks, the new budget is not all take, take, take. Some important tax breaks were included to assist such groups as low-income families, small businesses, children and the elderly. For example, the government earmarked substantial funds, $732 million this year alone, for grants to states to help pay for child care.
