Joe’s case, owing to the person Joe has shown himself to be since he was convicted, has attracted national and international attention. It is not easy for an official to open himself or herself to a possible charge of being “soft on crime.” However, because of the finality of the punishment of execution, it is fundamental that all the proceedings in the case be conducted as fairly as possible. In this case, so far, that has not been done.
We want to show Governor Wilder that we believe he can do the right thing with credit to his record.
