the monster state budget in such a mess through his chairmanship of the big-spending Appropriations Committee, further builds justifiable anger at oppressive government. This has been a major target of Virginia Taxpayers Association (PO Box 663, Lynchburg, VA 24505) for 18 years.
The ridiculous “straw-man” objection P & E committee members raised against I & R is that it “might be influenced by special interests.” As if such “special interests” could openly buy ballot votes of the entire Virginia electorate as effectively as they now with their big money secretly influence most all legislators from behind the scenes.
Is this legislative tyranny at home what our brave American men and women now in the Mideast desert really are fighting for? Other P & E members regarding their constituents as ignorant clods included Dels. James Dillard (R-Fairfax), Mary Marshall (D-Arlington) and Marian Van Landingham (D-Alexandria). With elections coming up in November, these delegates’ votes on I & R ought to be a prime campaign issue.
