In the meanwhile, legislation has been passed and signed, effective Jan. 1, 1991t raising the pay of members of Congress by $28,500 a year. Another 10,000 upper-level federal bureaucrats have received raises of from $20,000 to $42,000 a year. Vicepresident Dan Quayle, who strongly objected to giving minimum wage workers a raise of $1.20 an hour to bring them up near the poverty level, received a raise of $22 an hour ($46,000 a year).

It is clearly the policy of our government that the rich should get richer and the poor poorer.
