SHARE program meeting
There will be an organizational meeting for residents interested in forming a Self-Help and Resource Exchange (SHARE) program in Rappahannock County and vicinity on Thursday, Feb. 7 at 7 p.m. at the high school. This innovative food distribution program allows residents to trade volunteer community service work, combined with cash and/or food stamps, for food staples purchased in bulk at belowretail prices. The heart of the program is the volunteer labor donated by the participants, according to organizers, which allows prices to be kept low. The speaker at the organizational meeting will be Wayne Wilson, SHARE program director for the metropolitan D.C. area. The program is available to anyone who wishes to participate, "in fact, the more people who participate, the stronger the program becomes," said an organizer. For more information, contact the Rappahannock County Extension Office in Washington, (703)675-3619.
