Fauquier County director Tom Davenport found Robbie Sams (Mutzmag) in Madison County, N.C., a rural and isolated mountainous area nort h of Asheville, which is famous for its tradition of Appalachian ballad singing. Robbie took on this difficult and physically taxing role even though she has cystic fibrosis.
The cast also includes D.C. actors Bart Whiteman (the giant), Nancy Robinette (scared woman) and Eve Moenig (half sister Poll). Location filming was done in North Carolina and on Mr. Davenport’s farm-studio in Delaplane.
“Mutzmag” will be the 10th film in producers Tom and Mipii Davenport’s award winning series “From the Brothers Grimm.” The National Endowment for the Humanities supported the film with a $246,(KM) grant.
Tickets are $3 for children and $4 for adults.
