The planners also approved the site plans for a post office in Amissville on land owned by Frances Semmones. Mr. McCarthy said approving the site plans would not necessarily mean that the post office would be built on the land since the Postal Service is also negotiating with other landowners for a site.
They also recommended that the Thornton River Agricultural District be continued for another 10 years with the addition of a 12-acre parcel owned by Philip Strange.
They recommended that a special use permit to allow James W. Russell to operate a flea market on property west of Sperry ville be extended for another three years.
Finally, the planners considered the survey of farmers prepared by the Agricultural Advisory Committee and the American Farmlands Trust. The planners suggested the survey be made shorter.
