B&B's moveable feast The Bed and Breakfast Guild of Rappahannock has scheduled its annual Moveable Feast at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Sunday, April 26. The Guild has sponsored a Moveable Feast since 1988. Participating B&B’s are Caledonia Farm, The Conyer’s House, Gay Street Inn, Thistle Hill and Sycamore Hill. Reservations may be made by calling the Gay Street Inn at 6753288.
Bingo at Castleton The Castleton Volunteer Fire Department will offer a $1,000 jackpot on April 25. Early bird starts at 7 p.m. and regular bingo begins at 7:30 p.m. For more information call 937-5292.
Woman's Club to meet The Rappahannock Woman’s Club will meet at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 28 at the home of Barbara Burke near SperryVille. Barbara Slater, an interior designer will be giving a presentation on “Coordinating a Room.” All members are urged to attend.
Bloodmobile coming The Rappahannock County Extension Homemakers Clubs will sponsor a Red Cross Bloodmobile from 3:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 6 at the Washington fire hall. For further information call the Extension Office, 675-3619.
Phase I completed On Saturday, April 25 there will be a celebration of the completion of Phase I of the playground at the Rappahannock Park. The time is 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Bring a potluck for picnic time. Phase II will also be unveiled.
Seafood cookery program The Extension Homemakers Clubs’ leader training program for May programs will be held from 10 a.m. until 12 noon on Thursday, April 30 at the Extension Office. Marie Turner, retired Extension Home Economist in Fairfax County will present a program on “Seafood Cookery.” The public is invited to attend.
Organizational meeting An organizational meeting for a new daytime Extension Homemakers Club will be held at the Extension Office at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 30. If you are interested in joining a daytime club, come and learn what Extension Homemakers Clubs are all about. Plan to attend the morning program on “Seafood Cookery” at 10 a.m. too.
Contestants sought The Sperryville Volunteer Fire Department is seeking young ladies for carnival queen. The carnival will be held May 27-30. Anyone wishing to be a contestant should call 987-8124 and leave a message.
Immunization discussion The Mothering Cooperative will sponsor a lecture at 7 p.m. at the Rappahannock Library on Friday, April 24. Kathleen Maier and Sat Kartar Khalsa will be discussing ways to strengthen your child’s immune system. Highlighted will be the growing concern that the current schedule of childhood immunizations actually weakens the immune system and plants seeds for chronic illness.
