The Rappahannock Lions Club allocates substantial resources to meet a wide variety of recognized needs in urgent areas of sight and hearing, senior citizen aid, Camp Fantastic and Thanksgiving and Christmas gifts to those less fortunate, as well as providing county school scholarships, Rappahannock Athletic Association gifts, funding student field trips and the annual Bland Music Competition prizes and program expenses. We do not seek public recognition for our good works. Many other emergency needs are quietly met throughout the year in accordance with the Lion motto, “We Serve.”
We are aware of the current unemployment rate in Rappahannock County and we’ve also heard that we’re experiencing the effects of a recession. It’s for those reasons that the Lions Club has increased its local service budget, to give more help in response to the greater need.
Food and drinks will be available for purchase on the day of the auction as will apple butter, brooms, light bulbs and mints. We will have a special receptacle available for used eyeglasses and hearing aids, so bring them with you.
You will still be able to buy raffle tickets ($1 each or 25 for $20) until the drawing is conducted during the auction action.
Please help us make this auction the best one ever. You’ll be glad you did and so will the Lions.
