A week of rains led to widespread flooding in Rappahannock Tuesday night, closing several toads, downing trees and leaving venides stranded. There were no reports of injuries.
At 9 a.m. Wednesday, roads in most parts of the county were closed, and workers with the Virginia Department of Tranportation were checking to see if the floodwaters had receded and if the roads could be opened, according to Doug Bywaters, VDOT residency maintenance manager.
Roads closed due to flooding include routes 612, 600, 614, 622, 625, 629, and 630, said Mr. Bywaters. Reports were still coming in Wednesday morning.
He said no power was reported out Tuesday night, and that phone service in most, if not all, parts of
