The Washington Town Planning Commission will hold a public hearing on revisions to the town’s zoning ordinance on Monday, March 22, at 7:30 p.m. at the courthouse.
The planners have been reviewing the current zoning ordinance for months and asked County Administrator John McCarthy to review the document as well.
OOlLouise Van Dort, chairman of the planning commission, praised Mr. McCarthy earlier this week for his work. “He really helped clean up the language and make it more concise,” she said.
“I hope that it is more readable so that the average Joe will be able to pick it up and read through it and move logically from section to section,” McCarthy said.
The planners have proposed very . few substantive changes to the ordinance.
The proposed setback requirements are more straight forward and easier to understand, as is the link between building height and setback.
