As for Mr. Darcy, his superior social class cannot blind him to the wit, intelligence, and “beautiful eyes" of the attractive Miss Bennet. The tension between the two, as they grow in self-knowledge, is offset by the less complicated 'ove between Lizzie’s angelic sister, Jane, and Darcy’s likable friend, Charles Bingley. Presiding over it all is the volatile Mrs. Bennet, who alternates between raptures of delight and fits of hysterics.
With Pride and Prejudice, The Christendom Players put on their fourth production, with a cast of 26 ranging in age from 17 to 24. The Players began as a student initiative and remain as such, coached by an alumna of the college, Leslie Cummings.
Two seniors, Deirdre Brien and Andrew Youngblood, head the cast in the lead roles of Elizabeth and Darcy.
Tickets for Pride and Prejudice, to be performed the last weekend of March are $5 each for the Friday and Saturday evening and Sunday matinee performances. Group rates are available.
