Herbert Foster
Herbert Ashton Foster, t<7, of Flint Hill, died Thursday at Warren Memorial Hosptial in Front Royal.
The funeral will be conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Flint Hill United Methodist Church by the Rev. Merlin Shorb. Burial will be in Flint Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Foster was born June 29, 1905, in Rappahannock County, son of the late William Edward and Annie Elizabeth Scroggins Foster. He was a retired farmer and orchardist. He was a partner with the Foster’s Orchards in Flint Hill.
He was a member of the Flint Hill United Methodist Church and the Virginia Apple Commission. He was a charter member of Flint Hill Volunteer Fire Department, where he served as vice-president for a number of years. He was chairman of the board of directors of the Flint Hill Branch of the F and M Bank and served on the Selective Service Board for Rappahannock County Board of Supervisors for many years.
Surviving are his wife, Minnie K. Wince Foster; a son, Charles Herbert Foster of Flint Hill; a daughter, Delores Edna Corbin of Flint Hill; five half-brothers, William E. Foster III, David Foster, Paul J. Foster, Douglas Foster and Daniel Foster, all of Virginia; a half-sister, Frances Short of Virginia; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grand children.
Pallbearers will be Dale Welch. Hormer East, Lynn Atkins, Capt. Ed Streapy, Nelson Atkins Jr. and C. Gordon Thornhill.
