The Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service (ASCS) has announced the rates for advance deficiency payments for the 1993 acreage reduction programs.

The advance deficiency payment rates are based on estimated payment levels. Estimated deficiency payments are the guaranteed minimum levels for determining deficiency payments on acreage devoted to conserving uses under the optional 0/92 planting provisions.

Farmers may request 50 percent of the estimated deficiency payment for wheat and feed grains when they enroll in the programs for these crops. The sign up period is March 1April 30.

The estimated rates are $1.05 per bushel for wheat, $.72 for com, $.70 for sorghum, $.52 for barley and $. 15 for oats. The advance deficiency
