Fired dispatcher

wonders 'why?'

To the Editor:

I would like to take this time to express what a pleasure it has been to serve the citizens of Rappahannock County as a dispatcher for the Rappahannock County Sheriffs office.

On Feburary 5, 1993, upon arriving at the Sheriffs office to report to w’ork. Sheriff Woodward called me into his office and advised me that I was being placed on leave and when my leave time ends, my job at the Sheriffs office is being terminated.

Upon request for a reason as to why, the Sheriff refused to give me one, after serving under him for almost nine years.

Since that time some of my former co-workers say it is because of missing time for sickness. I do not have any control over sickness and death. In less than five years, I have lost my parents, suffered a heart attack, and have had two surgeries.

This was not my choice. God is the only one in control of these situation’s. Sheriff Woodward, I also understand that everyone knew that I was being terminated long before I did. But, that was not a real surprise because it has happened, before, to others before me.

I would like to thank everyone for all their support, phone calls and the many complements that I have received.
