Last Thursday’s meeting to gather input from the community for a Comprehensive Service Plan for the Department of Mental Health, Mental Retardation and Substance Abuse Services, turned into a brainstorming session for members of the local Mental Health Advisory Council.
John Waldeck, director of the Rappahannock-Rapidan Community Services Board, said they were holding such meetings in each jurisdiction, and encouraged the members to develop a wish list of all the services they'would like to provide.
He said that if additional funds are ever available from the state they can only be used for things included in such comprehensive plans, but he also encouraged the members to “go after additional grants if the state can’t fund it. You can’t just sit back and say there’s no money.”
