There should be something for everyone at Washington, Virginia’s Fourth of July celebration this Sunday.
With the holiday falling on a Sunday, the congregation at Trinity Episcopal Church will hold a special colonial communion service at 10 a.ra., using the 1662 Book of Common Prayer, which included prayers for King George.
The street fair will begin in 11 a.m. with craft and food sales lining Gay Street. The craft sales will end at 4:30 p.m. A special event this year will be a flea market with items for sale from The Inn at Little Washington in the new Town Hall. Proceeds from this sale will benefit the Child ' Care and Learning Center.
The library’s book sale, sponsored by the Friends of the Rappahannock Library will run from 10 a.m. until to 4 p.m. Horse-drawn wagon rides will take patrons from the comer of Gay and Middle Streets to the library east of town and back.
A patriotic program including a sing-a-long and readings from the colonial era will start at noon. Politicians are invited to speak at this program in front of the courthouse.
The Washington Volunteer Fire Department, which sponsors the day’s activities will begin its Dollar Bill line also at noon.
RAAC will offer $1 movies at noon and and 2 p.m. at the Theater in Washington, Va. “The Adventures of Icabod and Mr. Toad,” two Walt Disney animated features, will last a little longer than an hour. The 1 movies are based on Washington Ir
