This week we’ve worked strictly on basketball fundamentals,” Coach Leake said. “They had station work, lectures, films and lots of one on one practice to try to develop skills in ball handling, passing, dribbling and correct shooting form.” Campers also worked on rebounding and manto-man defense.
After lots of practice the teams played games to try to use the skills in real situations. The littlest campers played three-on-three games with the counselors and generally won.
Helping out at camp by serving as counsellors were Doug Poppy, a former player at Longwood College, who has tried out for NBA teams, and Paul Carter, who played for James Madison University and will play professional basketball in Germany next season. They were joined
