by high schoolers Lee Freeman, Jason Settle and Derek Deczewitz from Rappahannock and Liz and Sara van de Graff from Madison County. The campers had a chance to hear Kara Ratliffe, one of the leading players on the James Madison women’s varsity team.
“We had a lot of qualified people come in and share their knowledge,” Coach Leake said. “The kids had a tremendous amount of fun and a tremendous amount of success. This is the best group of youth we’ve ever had.”
As camp came to an end last week campers had tournaments to determine winning teams in each division. Lots of parents and grandparents gathered Friday to watch.
On Thursday Coach Leake had gone over a few rules of good sportsmanship: Don’t get mad at yourself or other people, Don’t criticize people or mkke fun of them, If someone falls down help them up, Win or lose congratulate your teamates and the opponents. The campers worked out these rules for themselves and then tried to practice them.
