age of fourth grade students who were above the 50 percent mark on standardized tests. Seventy-four percent of Rappahannock’s fourth' graders scored in the top half on these nationwide tests.
Rappahannock students were below the state average and Madison and Warren county in the percentage who passed all four physical fitness tests. County students have been below the state average in this measure for all three years that the OAP results report. The percentage statewide has been increasing, while Rappahannock results were higher in 1990-91 but dropped in 1991-92.
In measures of “Educating Middle School Students” Rappahannock^ again led the state with 92 percent of students in grades six through eight who missed 10 of fewer days of school. The state counts the percentage of students taking algebra and learning a foreign language before 8th grade under this objective.
