Trains Six
Six 4-H youth in Rappahannock County completed a 10-week 4-H Dog Obedience Class on June 28. The class was taught by Don Nielsen, owner of Midwatch Schipperkes Kennels in Huntly.
The class met for 10 Monday evenings for one hour each week at the Rappahannock Rec. Center. On June 28 the class participated in a Fun Match which judged the youth and their dogs on heeling stands, recalls, sits, and downs.
In the pre-novice exercise, the highest score was won by Ruthie Oyster and Jixy. Mr. Nielsen presented a trophy to Ruthie and dog biscuits to Jixy. He also recognized Ginny Caldwell and Rachel who had perfect attendance for all 10 classes.
Those who completed the course were Jake, a family dog handled by Ryan Oyster; Cody a family dog handled by Rebekah Letsen; Casey, handled by Meghan Fairbrother, Jixy, handled by Ruthie Oyster; Bo, handled by Jessica Letsen; and Rachel, handled by Ginny Caldwell.
