The unemployment rate for Rappahannock County, the state of Virginia and the United States all increased slightly in June, according to figures released last week by the Virginia Employment Commission.
Although the increases were relatively small, it was the second monthly increase in a row for both Rappahannock County and the state.
Rappahannock’s rate rose to 5.4 percent compared to 5.3 percent in May and 5.1 percent in April. However, this is less than half the record f unemployment rate in recent years of 11.9 percent set a year ago in in June, 1992.
