Football Season
Football is coming to Rappahannock County as the Rappahannock Panthers begin getting in shape for the Skyline Travel Football League. The team and the league, for 12- to 15-year olds, owe their existence primarily to the inspiration and perspiration of league founder and president Robert McKinley.
McKinley’s plans would never have come to fruition without the financial, emotional and physical support of many community businesses and individuals.
Much credit is also due to coach Tony Hoffman w ho has cnly a few weeks before the first game to get his raw recruits transformed into a skillful coordinated team, and to high school coach Gary Leake who has been instrumental in signing up players and generating much of the community interest and support.
Win or lose, we wish the best to the Skyline Travel Football League, and to the newest Rappahannock Panthers. In the words of coach Hoffman, may you have a learning season and a safe season, too.
