Rappahannock County farmers removed 794.9 acres of cropland from production this year under the Department of Agriculture’s federal Acreage Reduction Programs. This land will now be devoted to conservation practice.
Jeanette Smith, County Executive Director for the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service (ASCS), says the idle cropland includes acreage reduction land and optional acreage diversions under the 1993 program.
