appeared in court with no counsel. Judge W. Shore Robertson noted that Mr. James had been convicted of three DWI’s. An order was entered to declare Mr. James an habitual offender. Judge Robertson told Mr. James that he is not allowed to operate a motor vehicle for ten years.
Gary Wayne Phelps, 36, of Front Royal was charged with having operated a motor vehicle on a public highway after having been declared an habitual offender. The court found Mr. Phelps guilty. Mr. Phelps’s attorney, Frank Reynolds, informed Judge W. Shore Robertson that his client has been found guilty in two other jurisdictions, Stafford County and Warren County, for this same charge. Mr. Reynolds asked the court to order a mental evaluation of his client.
According to Commonwealth’s Attorney Peter Luke, John Wesley Leake, 19, of Chester Gap, will be accepted into boot camp if certain documents are provided to the Department of Corrections. The documents required are medical and psychological evaluations.
Mr. Leake will be on two years of supervised probation once he is released from boot camp.
Mr. Leake had been charged with stealing two speakers, one amplifier, a speaker box and approximately 20 CDs from a Camaro belonging to Wanda Ennis.
