In County Suit

George Gilliam, who was assigned the job of defending the county in the suit brought by four landowners because of the sludge ban, says he has not filed a response on behalf of the county because he expects the landowners’ lawyer to file amendments to the original suit.

Werner Krebser, John Powers, Dale Welch and Patricia Saltonstall filed suit against the county in October.

Mr. Gilliam said that John Foote, the chief counsel for the plaintiffs, let him know he wants to file amendments to the original suit brought in state court and to also file a suit in federal court.

Mr. Gilliam said he expects the amendments and federal suit to be filed this week.

Once the plaintiffs have refiled, Mr. Gilliam expects to have a response within a few weeks.
