If we in Fauquier County could have had the use of sludge 5 or 6 years before we did, we could have saved a lot of farmers from going bankrupt. I should know because in the early to mid-eighties I lost at least 10 good size farmers to bankrupcy that were customers of mine in Fauquier Grain Co. that I sold this year.
I understand that a group of farmers are suing Rappahannock County, for the right to land apply' sludge and if I may give your supervisors some advice, give in, do not waste tax dollars defending something you cannot win. The landowners have all the eggs in their basket and you do not have a prayer. Resides this is good for you county, you will be getting the cleanest sludge in the U.S. from a non industrial city J and they pay the freight and spread
