I blew it. I wrote an article for the Rappahannock News in which I put my conclusions at the end (“Is Growth a Threat?” Nov. 10). I should have realized that those par- • agraphs might get chopped in the . squeeze for newspaper space.
In addition to the well-planned villages, I suggested a broad belt of agriculture around each village. I said that Rappahannock can’t shut people out, but it can develop extremely creative ways to preserve its beauty. I’d love to see Rappahannock be a national pathfinder in this, expecially in the face of the threat posed by Disney.
To Nancy Forsyth McBride, who responded to my article in a letter published Dec. 1, I didn’t say the desire to limit growth was hypocrisy. I said it’s hypocritical for newcomers to blame other newcomers for Rappahannock’s growth. We newcomers can also be part of the solution-I think you are, and I hope I am too.
