The RCHS boys’ basketball teams have two scrimmages behind them, and are ready to begin their regular season games.
The first game will be played at Brentsville Friday, and the first home game will be against Central Tuesday. Junior varsity games begin at 6 p.m., followed by the varsity at approximately 7:30 p. m.
The varsity won one of their scrimmages, and the junior varsity won both.
In the JV scrimmage games Coach Gary Leake said, “Everyone played. The purpose of the junior varsity level is that it gives the guys as much playing time and practice as possible.”
The junior varsity is plagued with injuries already this season. “We have a 14-man squad with 11 healthy bodies, and won the first scrimmage without having a full line-up. We were still able to do it all,” said Coach Leake. “This is probably one of the best junior varsity teams that I can remember," he added.
