She said Mrs. Kidwell got her interested in doing historical research.
Mrs. Kidwell lives at Bowling Green. She worked for the maintenance manager of United Airlines first at National Airport and then at Dulles. She said she was working at Dulles before the airport actually opened when she heard that President John Kennedy had been shot. She retired in 1984 and she and her husband took a trip around the world. “I just loved Singapore,” she said.
She says she is a southern girl, originally from southern Minnesota. She was doing geneological research and trying to trace her home back when she discovered that in 1728 the original farm of her property joined the farm of Mrs. Welch’s property along the.Fodderstack Road leading to Flint Hill.
As they joined together to do the research, they discovered a natural partnership. The partnership is still apparent as they bounce ideas off each other deciding what to tell a visitor.
They learned a lot in the process of writing the book and hope others will continue the research. “If someone would just take this up now and do the newer section,” Mrs. Welch said.
