The Planning Commission recommended approval of a custom sawmill in Old Hollow and the Ben Venue Kite Festival before moving to a discussion of the fifth chapter of the Comprehensive plan and a discussion of what is the next step following the public hearing on roads.
Tom Taylor had applied for a special use permit to operate a custom sawmill on a 35.8-acre parcel he owns off Route 612. At last Wednesday’s meeting he said he would be using a portable sawmill with a capacity of 1,000 board feet a day with one operator or 1,500 feet a day with two people working.
His brother Bill Taylor said he now sells logs out of the county and would be supplying most of the lumber for the sawmill.
