An 1917 ad from the H.W. Spilman store promoted their “Mid-Summer Hot Weather Sale," July 10-August 10. rhey offered seasonable merchandise at reduced prices: ladies’ tan and white linen washable suits were on sale for S2.75 to S3.75; infants’ dresses for 19 cents and up; and mens’ summer underwear at no advance over last season’s prices.
