I'm afraid that our pastoral way of life in Rappahannock that is here today, could easily be gone tomorrow alter hearing the sales pitch by Kellerco on proposed roads given to the Board of Supervisors, Planning Commission and public.
Long ago, Rappahannock took a great measure towards the preservation of its villages, farms and community, by implementing the 25 acre zoning law. I'd like to keep that courage alive and in the forefront as we are confronted by new growth issues.
I believe that the proposed road plan is actually a residual from the big Disney scare, but at the same time a grand opportunity for voices across the community to come forward and speak their concerns and ideas regarding development. Sinqe growth is a reality that should not be ignored, 1 suggest that we take out time to finely review this proposed plan and look at some alternatives for problem solving.
Just as this expert was so readily available to tell us how and why to expand our “corridors’Vroads with the suggestion of future traffic lights, bypasses, enlarged corridors,” etc . l am sure that there is also an expert that can help us look at alternative ways. If Kellerco’s plan is based on “20-30-40 years from now” it does not need a decision today.
Our neighboring counties are certainly feeling this “squeeze,” but I truly wonder whether Culpeper citizens were an active part of the decision making for the new Walmart or
