Earlier this month former President George Bush, to the consternation of many Republicans allied against Warner, appeared at a fund raiser in his behalf in Richmond.
State party chairman Patrick McSweeney has said he is considering running against Warner, but if he did and Miller stayed in the race it would be the best news Warner could he given because it would probably split the antiWarner vote.
Miller will be a formidable opponent for Warner and the race could be a. close one, particularly since members of the party s right wing have a big grudge against. Warner and will be highly motivated to vote, l ook for lots of political action in Virginia next year.
