A wide variety of silent auction items will be on display and up for bids in the afternoon from 1 until 5 p.m. “Silent” indicates generally lower priced collectibles with a visible bid sheet.
At 5 p.m. the auction activities will come to a crescendo with a free performance by the highly acclaimed local performing arts group, Friends of Gaia, which will premiere its story of Percephone and Demeter. Friends of Gaia delivers riveting, uplifting and energetic performances incorporating dance, music and the costuming of Peggy Schadler’s unique masques.
Checking the starry charts shows that the April 1 auction is a peak time for such festivity, as well as for acquiring one-of-a-kind art work, furniture, and gifts at far below market value. “Last year people walked away with unbelievable bargains,” says Ms. Richards. “This year people can expectan even greater selection to pique their interest.”
Proceeds from the auction directly benefit Spring Mountain, the area’s only Waldorf school. Currently consisting of nursery, kindergarten, and grades one to four, Spring Mountain will be offering a fifth grade next year.
Bill Payne of Amissville will serve as auctioneer. Refreshments will be available throughout the day.
