“My Sister’s Sister" is a full length play. Ms. Portman has drawn material from diaries, journals and photo albums for this production. She said it is about “the thoughts and dreams we have and the games we play as kids, the big plans we make and how they all unravel. ‘My Sister’s Sister’ is our last fist fight and our first high school dance; it’s about being a revolutionary in the sixties and going on exotic adventures to India. And it’s about two sisters — one an artist and the other schizophrenic — and the simple understanding it takes to accept each other just the way we are.”
Ms. Portman said that she finished the script last August. She and her husband Paul Reisler, who has created the music score for this play, went away in December to work specifically on the play. “We worked on the bare bones structure of the music,” she said.
The official opening of “My Sister’s Sister” will be at the Gunston Arts Center in Arlington on April 19, as a part of their Innovators Festival. Tickets for the preview performance at Ki Theatre will be $10 and are available by calling Ki Theatre at 675-1616.
