In their first track meet of the season, the RCHS Panthers racked up a lot of points against Page and Randolph Macon Academy, but not enough to win the meet.
At the meet held last Wednesday at Page County, the girls’ team came in second, while the boys finished third.
Willie Shanks, with 14 points, and Holly Gangel, with 13, won the most points for Rappahannock.
Holly Gangel placed first in both the 3200m with a time of 13:40, and the 800m at 2:47. Caroline Baumgardner won the 1600m at 8:39. Dawn Havstad placed first in the discus, throwing it 80’1”.
Dawn finished second in the shot put with a distance of 28’ 1 ”, and Holly cleared 4’6” to place second in the high jump. Robyn Kaye came in second in the 400m with a time of 1:15:53.
Regan Nesmith placed third in the 100m and fourth in the 200m runs. Caroline Baumgardner placed third in the 800m, and Robin Kaye came in fourth in the 100m.
Willie Shanks earned his 14 points by placing second in the long jump (18’3”), second in the 100m (12:09); second in the 200m (25:66); and third in the shot put. He was also on the 4x100 relay team, which placed second. Other
