RAA Activities Scheduled

A field work day for the Rappahannock Athletic Association will be held at 10 a m. on Saturday, April 1 at the Stuart Field. Everyone is urged to participant and bring rakes, shovels, wheelbarrows, etc. The rain date is April 8.

Opening Day for RAA will be held at 1 p.m. on April 22 at the Stuart Field. There is currently an ongoing raffle to be held on opening day. First prize is a bat, second is an adjustable helmet, and third is an equipment bag. If you can sell some tickets or just want to buy* see your coaches. •

Health Care in Recovery

Health Care in Recovery is a closed 12-step meeting for Health Care Professionals recovering from the disease of alcoholism/substance abuse. This group focuses on recovery by sharing its experience, strength and hope in the following area: treatment facilities and needs, legal resources, disciplinary board process, aftercare monitoring and employment reentry. Blitz, Building Weekend Set

Rappahannock’s Habitat for Humanity is planning a “Blitz Building Weekend” April 1 and 2 starting at 8 a.m. at the Shanks site. Skilled and unskilled volunteers are still needed.

Open House Planned

Flint Hill Volunteer Fire and Rescue Company will host an Open House at the Fire Company Building on Saturday, April 1. “Join us and learn more about Fire and Rescue in your community,” said a spokesperson. Call Ellen Manson at 675-1349 for more information.

Education Classes To Expand

Starting Monday, April 3, adult education classes in Rappahannock are expanding to a second evening. The classes, which meet in the basement of the Rappahannock Library , will now' meet on Mondays 7-9 as well as on Wednesdays.

The class offers a comfortable setting, individualized attention, and a w ider variety of instructional materials, including computer programs. Trained tutors from the Literacy Volunteers of Rappahannock assist the lead teacher, Susan Fox. To find out more about the classes, call 1-800371-7380.

Craft Show Planned

Chester Gap Volunteer Fire Department will hold a craft show April 1 at the Union Hall on Chester Street in Front Royal from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information call 636-6171 or 635-5482.

Country Ham Dinner Planned

There will be a fried country ham dinner from 5 to 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 1 at the Jeffersonton Community Center. The dinner also includes redeye gravy, homemade biscuits, potatoes, green beans, apples, and dessert. Prices are $6.95 for adults, $3.95 for child, and $2.50 for child hotdog dinner. As well as helping the Center, 50 percent of the proceeds will go to the Little Fork Volunteer Fire Department.

Gardening Series To Begin

The Fauquier County Extension Office and the Fauquier County Master Gardeners will present their spring Green Thumb Gardening series in April. Topics will include Home Orchard Pest Management on April 3, Growing and Using Herbs on April 5, Beginning Vegetable Gardening on April 19, and Living with Pests, A Review of Common Yard and Garden Insects and Control Methods on April 26. All programs are free to the public and will be held in the Fauquier Extension Office at •24 Pelham Street, Warrenton. Programs start at 7 p.m. Registration by phone is required at 347-8650.
