Kathryn Gangel of Sperryville is the author of a newly published book, Confetti: a crazy, corny collection of choral reading activities for the classroom.
Mrs. Gangel teaches a third grade class at Springfield Elementary School in Rileyville, Page County. She said that she uses choral reading, which is the reading of a poem or verse orally in unison, to “build literacy, to immerse children in the wonders of language, and to inspire a lifelong desire for reading, writing, singing, speaking, listening, and expressing. It is really fun and a wonderful way to involve everybody.”
Her book is a collection of 29 choral readings with a learning activity
