Mary Scheeler, who presently lives in Amissville, was living in Alexandria at the time of the mammoth storm. She walked the five miles home from school in the beginning of the storm, and remembers troops from Ft. Belvoir coming in to clear the roads. Also, she said, horses would clear the streets pulling a v-shaped concaption behind them. 95 A snowmobile which was donated to the county in 1993 and in storage since then was
^ttfed up by Washington Fire Chief Roger Roach '4(id Bill Lanning. Mr. Roach had the snowmobile out for a spin last Friday and it was running smoothly, easily plowing through extremely deep snow, better than any other vehicles around. Mr. Roach said the Washington Volunteer Fire and Rescue will have the snowmobile on hand for rescues. So far it has not been needed.
