Poached Pears are easy to make, very fast and sure to be a grand-finale to any meal. Peaches may also be used.
Poached Pears
1/3 cup sugar ■9 1/4 cup sweet white wine or orange juice
2 1/2 to 3 inches stick cinnamon
1 teaspoon vanilla
4 medium pears, peeled, halved, and cored; or medium peaches, peeled, halved,and pitted %
In a large skillet bring sugar, wine, cinnamon, vanilla, and 3/4 cup water to boiling. Add pears or peaches. Reduce heat. Simmer, covered, for 10 to IS minutes or till tender. Remove cinnamon. Serve warm or chilled. Serves 4.
