I am frequently asked to name my favorite bird. The answer is usually any warbler just seen whether it be a Prothonotary with a golden head, a Hooded Warbler with a yellow face mask outlined by black or a Black-throated Blue Warbler. This tiny fragment of reality has a name which describes the male perfectly: blue all over with a black throat and clear white breast.
If I am to be reincarnated as a bird and have a choice, it will be as a Blue Jay. They are handsome birds. For now I will overlook their cocky arrogance and propensity for stealing and eating the eggs of other birds and concentrate on admirable qualities.
